You'll need to contact the SCS Helpdesk by phone or email to be issued a new password. Please give us your full name, your username, and a phone number where you can be reached. We will only give new passwords by phone or in person, not by email.
How your change your seminary password depends on what sort of account you have:
|
Bethany/ESR students, staff, and faculty All password changes should be made through Earlham's Password Management System. |
Academy students, Board members, friends, and others who can access Moodle but do not have @earlham.edu or @bethanyseminary.edu email accounts Please use the seminaries' password changing tool to change your password for Moodle and other SCS services. |
For a password to work properly, it must be something which you will remember, and which other people don't know and can't guess. Having trouble thinking up a password? You can find an article here about selecting a secure password - just make sure your chosen password isn't one of these most commonly used passwords!
Moodle uses a "tracking cookie" to increase security. Your web browser must be set to allow cookies from our Moodle site, http://scs.earlham.edu. Follow these links for information on enabling cookies in several Windows browsers and in Safari on Mac OSX.
Moodle also needs to know where a login attempt is coming from (i.e. the "referring page" or "referrer"). Some firewalls intentionally block this information. You should be able tooverride the firewall setting for our Moodle site (http://moodle.scs.earlham.edu/) without otherwise compromising your computer's security. (Note that the address does not begin with "www"!). Consult your firewall's tech support resources for instructions.
If you use Norton Personal Firewall/Norton Internet Security The instructions for
Norton Personal Firewall 2003/2004 can be found here
(or could when we wrote this), and may help to explain the issue.
If you use a ZoneAlarm firewall
