Submitting a trouble ticket via email

In an effort to make reporting an error as simple as possible, we have added the ability to submit a trouble ticket via email. To do this, all you need to do is send an email to support@scs.asliconnect.com with a description of the problem (see below) and a trouble ticket will be automatically generated!
    Thanks!

    Requesting help from SCS

    Hello Everyone!

In order to better serve our users, I would like to take this time to go over SCS's Request Tracking system, GLPI. This software allows the user to submit support requests to an online database designed to track and manage ongoing technical issues in the Seminary community. One of the key features of this software is it's ability to keep the user updated on any progress as it's made. It also allows SCS to catalog and archive old solutions, which can enable faster response for known issues.

    Email and Winmail.dat

    Problems with Attached files Winmail.dat

Bethany Seminary often receives Winmail.dat attachments from their central office in Elgin.  The problem originates with Microsoft Exchange servers, so it is quite possible to recieve documents from others as well with this issure.  There are tools that allow us to deal with this issue.  Enten tracked down the following solutions which he has shared with me.

    Barracuda Spam Firewall

In an attempt to block unwanted emails from being delivered to your inbox, Earlham College has implemented a system known as the Barracuda Spam and Virus Firewall. Barracuda operates on a point system, meaning that it analyzes each email that passes through the system and quarantines those that match enough criteria points to be considered spam. Sometimes though, Barracuda will catch emails that are not spam.

    Whitehouse.gov moves to Drupal!

    in

Whitehouse.gov has converted their site to Drupal! Drupal is a CMS (content management system) that has been gaining in popularity over the past couple of years. Currently, all seminary websites (TWIC, SCS, ESR, Bethany) are Drupal sites. Here's a fun article about how the President's IT staff is utilizing Drupal.

    Latest Email Scams

Two more attempts have been launched to trick users into submitting their account information under the threat of losing access to their email accounts. It is important to remember that neither SCS or ECS will ever ask users for their account information through an email. If you have responded to either of these two emails you should contact the SCS helpdesk at (765) 983-1568 and we'll make sure your account hasn't been compromised.
