    When I try to open a PDF file from a website, I see the message "The file is damaged and could not be repaired/opened."

    This problem has to do with a bug in some versions of Adobe Reader 7. The solution is to stop Firefox from opening PDFs in the browser window, as follows:

    1. In Firefox, click Tools > Options.
    2. Click on the Downloads tab, and then click the "View/Edit Actions" button.
    3. Select the entry for PDF files and click "Change Action...".
    4. Select the "Open them with the default application" radio button. The "default application" listed will be Acrobat Reader.
    5. Click OK, Close, and OK.

    PDF files will now open in a separate Adobe Reader window.
