You can request a temporary increase in your "quota", which will give you more storage space to allow you to clear out extra messages. Here's how:
- Log into Earlham's Webmail system with your seminary username and password.
- Click "Manage your quota" in the left column.
- Log into the quota management service with your seminary username and password.
- Click "Request Quota Increase" in the left column.
- Fill out the form as follows:
- Set "Host" to "EMAIL (E-Mail Server)".
- Set "Amount requested (in MB)" to a reasonable amount (SCS suggests 50).
- Enter a "Reason", ex. "Cleaning out old email".
- Check the "Automatically release on" box, and enter a date (SCS suggests a date about a month into the future).
- Click "Submit".
- Click "Logout".
- Wait for the quota increase to take effect. In most cases, your quota increase will appear within about five minutes - in WebMail, click on the "refresh folder list" in the left column, and watch the "Quota Usage" gauge to see when the new space becomes available.
- Delete extra email from the server! Make sure that you click the "purge" link beside the Trash mailbox to actually delete the messages - click the "refresh folder list" link if you don't see the "purge" option.
Note:
When you request a temporary quota increase and set an end date, your request is handled automatically by the server itself rather than by a person.
