This scam keeps it short, giving you less time to think about how strange the whole thing is. Happily, in addition to asking you to send in your password via email (which neither SCS nor ECS will ever do), the senders make some clear errors:

• Sending from outside email addresses: legitimate SCS or ECS support personnel will use @scs.earlham.edu or @earlham.edu addresses, not @gmail.com or @eircom.net.
• Numerous grammatical and tenseproblems in the text.
• A non-sensical threat - if someone has been changing your password from abroad, how would you sending in your password prove that you are the legitimate account owner?
