Problems with Attached files Winmail.dat

Bethany Seminary often receives Winmail.dat attachments from their central office in Elgin.  The problem originates with Microsoft Exchange servers, so it is quite possible to recieve documents from others as well with this issure.  There are tools that allow us to deal with this issue.  Enten tracked down the following solutions which he has shared with me.

For Thunderbird, there is an add-on called "LookOut" (a spoof on
Outlook) that will allow your email client to handle these
seamlessly.  For webmail or other programs, there is a small nifty
free shareware converter that I just installed for Karen that works
quite well, called winmail_opener.exe by Eolsoft.  Enten put a copy
of the installation program on the network at Y:\Electronic
Communication for anyone who needs it.
